QATARGAS: COMMISSIONING AND START-UP PHASES About Qatargas and its current expansions Qatargas is moving forward to position Qatar as the ‘world leader in liquefied natural gas. Being an industry leader goes hand-in-hand with a commitment to responsibly develop the nation’s resources, achieving environmental excellence and engaging with our surrounding communi ‘We are currently expanding our facilities at Ras Laffan Industrial City which will allow us to export more energy to every comer of the globe. Qatargas is currently developing three major liquefied natural gas expansion projects which will add an ‘additional four processing trains - the largest such trains in the world. These expansion projects include the development of a new fleet of 32 liquefied natural gas, ships, the installation of six offshore platforms, extension of the existing Port facilies and the development of a receiving terminal in Milford Haven in the United Kingdom with associated pipeline infrastructure. In addition, Qatargas is constructing the Laffan Refinery to process the condensate (hydrocarbon liquids that are present in raw gas) into liquefied petroleum gas and ‘other related products. ‘Through these expansion projacts, Qatargas is proud to contribute substantially to the development of the State of Qatar. With the start up of the first of the expansion, projects we will be making history for our country, the region and the entire energy industry. In addition, the revenue generated from the gas processing activities will support the responsible development of Qatar. By end of the decade we will be exporting approximately 42 million tonnes per annum of liquefied natural gas to ‘markets in Europe, Asia and the North America.
