a) identify the parts of a set and/or region that


represent fractions for halves, thirds, fourths, sixths,
eighths, and tenths
Activity  The teacher will open the SMART Table Activity onto the
Promethean board
 The teacher will introduce fractions use the first few
slides as part of their instruction.
o The teacher will use the images of pies/etc to
explain what fractions are.
o The teacher can explain how one slice of the pie
is one third because it’s equally split into three
pieces/into thirds.
o There are some slides that instruct to “sort the
pictures and say the fractions” which can be
done as a whole class so that students get a
better understanding
 As the teacher explains the fractions, they may call on
students to drag and match the correct fraction to the
correct image.
 After a few slides, the teacher may call on students one-
by-one to drag and match the fractions with the correct
images without any help
o Students will be able to correct it themselves by
dragging a different fraction on top/etc.
 By the end of the lesson, students should be able to
