Nominee’s Name: Hope Aguirre Chapter: Delta Gamma

Classification/Major: Nutrition Science (Pre-Med) GPA: 3.41

Please describe your nominee’s role in your day to day chapter life. Please include any major and
minor leadership roles she may have filled.

As Director of New Member Education, Hope has had the inimitable privilege to facilitate in all
aspects of the new member experience. This past semester she efficiently held multiple meetings
each week in order to provide a seamless transition for the new members into Delta Gamma. Along
with her VP of New Membership, she organized bid day, hosted big little reveal, scheduled sailor
sister dates for new and initiated members to meet. She participated in ritual as well by conducting
inspiration and initiation, all while planning for upcoming fall semester responsibilities. Hope has also
been gifted with various opportunities to decorate new member events and coordinated with the
chapter in making sure events were well attended. Hope has been grateful for the leadership
experience of overseeing and managing both a New Member Crew of almost 20 members as well as a
smaller committee with representatives from each pledge class. She has also taken the time to
personally meet with new members outside of meetings and anchored events in order to guarantee
that they feel accepted and understand how cherished they are by our chapter. Hope believes that
the young women she gets to mentor and guide have had the most heartwarming and beneficial
influence on her own love for our Delta Gamma chapter and perpetually strengthened the bond she
has with all of her sisters.

Please provide examples of how your nominee offers support to your chapter as a whole.

Hope provides steadfast support to her chapter by being a friend to all and volunteering her
time as often as she can. She is a firm believer in giving of yourself, even if you don’t believe you have
anything left to give. To Hope, being purposeful in the way you care for others applies to all that one
may encounter and is significant beyond compare. Over these past few years she has committed to
familiarizing herself with her entire chapter and has been gifted with so many vital role models and
diverse relationships. She is constantly encouraging her sisters to pursue their passions, shows
appreciation for everyone’s talents, and tries to find small ways that she can include someone new in
whatever organizations or events she has coming up. Hope truly has immersed herself in the
sisterhood and says that she cannot go a day without seeing those she is close with in Delta Gamma.
To Hope, the most beautiful aspect of her sisterhood is that people never cease to make new
friendships. She loves that through DG she has been able to pray, study, vacation, exercise, and talk
endlessly to so many. Hope admires the countless ways that Delta Gamma has opened her up to the
love and care of so many kindhearted individuals and strives to relay this same privilege to all she
meets.

Please provide one specific example of how your nominee has helped a sister “realize her potential.”

“They may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel.”

Hope has made boundless efforts to ensure that each of her sisters know just how capable,
creative, and inspiring they are. She credits that in order to justly honor the bonds of sisterhood you
must not only be present in each other’s live, but you must be indispensable in facilitating in your
sister’s confidence, spiritual growth, and well-being. Whenever she sees an opportunity for a friend to
lead, be expressive, or be charitable she is enthusiastic to share it with them and finds joy in joining
her friends with others that they can be elevated and treasured by. Through Delta Gamma, Hope has
come to know that most meaningful and pure accomplishments are never achieved alone; they result
from reassurance, tender consideration, and optimistic influences. She finds fulfilment in having
watched her friends assume leadership roles in governmental organizations, as well as other on
campus organizations. She praises those who spend countless hours devoting their hearts to service
groups, and she cheers on sisters to excel on the field or on stage. Affirmation is truly indispensable in
facing obstacles and is a gift you can give endlessly; it can be the smallest word or prayer but its
effects are abundant. Hope fell in love with Delta Gamma during recruitment because she not only
wanted to befriend each of the incredible women she met, but also aspired to be as supportive,
considerate, and motivating as each of them were to each other. Because of this, she has spent the
last two years guiding others to appreciate themselves for who they are. Through Delta Gamma she
has grown to know that oftentimes all someone needs to welcomes challenges is an advocate who
wholeheartedly stands with them and puts trusts in their triumph. For Hope, that oftentimes means
that the most effective way to lead is not from a place of authority, but to offer guidance and
assistance. Oftentimes, we are so harsh on ourselves, and yet if we saw ourselves the way others see
us we would have a much greater appreciation for our gifts and strengths. Hope’s greatest ambition
is to give her Delta Gamma sisters her unwavering faith in their endeavors and shine a light on their
good deeds in hopes that it may bring others the same motivation and pride that it has herself.
