Learning Activity #1: Pyramid Tournament (A-5 / C-3)

Rules: You have to play doubles – NO exceptions

Games are to 11 points
You can challenge any team in the section above you (up to two above you)
If you beat the higher team you trade places with them – challenge higher up
teams and you have a chance of moving significantly higher
If you lose against the higher team then the standings don’t change

Remember: ETIQUETTE
There will be lots of games going on so please do not walk on other peoples courts
while coming to the board
Only call points on your own side of the court – be honest
Assessment/Differentiation: those who didn’t finish the peer assessments will do
so today.

Key Questions: How are you demonstrating etiquette? How are you using
manipulative skills and nonlocomotory skills to gain advantage (win) in a game?

Closure
Consolidation/Assessment of Learning: Bring everyone in
How did the tournament go? Did you play front and back or side to side?
How were your shot selections beneficial or not?
How was your etiquette today?

Feedback to Students: I will be giving you your peer assessment forms back today
for you to see how your peers graded you and what feedback they may have given
you. Next week during the Olympic tournament we will have a self evaluation that
will be counted towards your mark.

Transition to Next Lesson:

Tomorrow we are going to play two new games. One for smashing and one for
rallying. They will be competitive and I will be keeping track of your points.
