Lesson Reflection 1

Lesson Math lesson Student Alyaa Naser

teacher
unit/page Unit of inquiry

MST Ms. Caroline School GEMS School

Class KG1 Date 26\2\2018

Overall aim and context of the lesson:

1.The students will count to 10 by ones

2. They will count to 10 by ones using manipulatives

3.They will write the numbers 1-10

Choose two aspects from the competency areas to evaluate and discuss (one paragraph
each) according to following:

1. discuss one aspect that you feel you did very well. Try to analyse why you think it
worked well and what hints you would share with other teachers about the
successful strategy/ resource/activity/management style etc.

Positive aspect of the lesson:

I feel that I did very well when I

- Remembering the students about making good and bad choices (asking them what\how we make a good
choice \ bad choices. And how to sit on the carpet and be silent ( criss-cross apple sauce , bubble in your
mouth strategies and rising their hands before they answer\ask).
- Introducing about the numbers and where we can find numbers in our class, that's to help them when they
have struggle to write\count the numbers. (It is like their reference ,so they can check for themselves and
be independent about their learning).
- Walking and observe the students while they work in their centers.
- Asking the students questions to count\write the number 1-10. Asking appropriate questions that's
depends on their level of thinking.
- Explaining the parts of the flower with relating counting and writing numbers 1-10. For example, I asked the
students to count how many petals\roots\leaves in the flower I asked them to write the numbers inside the
petals.
- Using different centers and explain each one then let the students choose what they prefer to learn about
numbers 1-10.
- Demonstrate my own flower that I made like a sample for the students and ask them to count and write
the numbers using their own flower (They make their flowers by stick the parts of the flower on papers and
count petals\root and write the numbers in the petals).
- I counted to 3 when it's clean up time and most students directly finish cleaning their centers and sit in
their spots on the carpet.
2. elaborate on the aspect identified by you that requires attention. Discuss what the
problem was, why it occurred and what action you intend to take to be more
successful in the next lesson.

Requires Attention:

My problem was telling the students to go to the appropriate centers that's depends on their levels. I confused
about each student's level of thinking when I asked them questions to count\write numbers 1-10. Also, when I did
the assessment at the end of the lesson I don’t write notes about the students learning.

3. outline the personal focus and goal of the next lesson

Personal focus for the next lesson:

I think that in the next lesson I will use the table that my MST gave me and remember the student's level of
thinking. I will use assessment grid that my MST advised me to use it to write notes about the students' learning.
