Dear Parents,

This week we had two incidents of bats on campus. As is District practice, the bats
were removed and sent for testing. The results for the first bat tested positive for
rabies. The results for the second bat are pending.

We have made contact with parents of those students who we know came in contact
with the bats. As a precaution, we encourage parents to discuss this matter with
their child. Any person who had direct contact with a rabid animal should seek
medical attention as soon as possible. You may call the Texas Department of State
Health Services, Zoonosis Control, at (830) 591-4385 or the San Antonio Metro
Health District (SAMHD) at (210) 207-8876. During school hours, you may also
contact the Northside Health Services Department at (210) 397-3551 with
questions.

For more information about bats and rabies, please view the Texas Department of
State Health Services website at:

http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/idcu/disease/rabies/information/.

Respectfully,

John Trimble
Principal
