Universal Design for Learning (UDL): Kahoot! Is a great way to help students with learning disabilities keep
their focus. In addition, this provides extra help for students who are having trouble retaining the
information.

Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity. Students will begin learning poetry. They will be given vocabulary words to help them better
understand vocabulary. Then the class will go into reading and analyzing the poetry of Emily Dickinson. As a
way to keep the lectures interactive I will introduce the class to Kahoot!

Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☒ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☐ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☒ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☒ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☒ Test preparation
☐ Survey/Poll ☐ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity: (What will the students do? What will the
teacher do? What materials are needed? How long with the activity last?) Prior to handing out iPad’s the
teacher will go over how the iPad’s should be handled, and consequences upon any damage done to the
iPad’s. Then the teacher will number off each student, and hand them the corresponding iPad. Students will
then go to the Kahoot app and enter the game code. The game will then begin, and the students will answer
the questions. The game will only last for ten minutes.

Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):
☒ Multiple choice ☐ Multiple select ☐ True/False ☐ Yes/No
☐ Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐ Longer open-ended response

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):

Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?

☒ Yes ☐ No
☐ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
☒ Yes
☐ No
Why or why not? The student will be able to see the correct answer, and the class will go over it together.

Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity? Following the SRT activity students will go back to class
lecture.

How will the data be used? The student’s answers will be collected, so the teacher can have a better
understanding of what the class might need extra help on. If a certain question was missed by a lot of
students, the teacher may have to change their teaching technique. For instance, spend more time explaining,
or provide more assignments for extra help. There will be an award handed out to the student with the most
points at the end of the game.

Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. I hope to make at least 3 Kahoot! Games throughout
each of my lectures. This will allow students an educational and interactive rest time from lectures. As well as
provide me with more information on the student’s progress, and what they need more help with.

Reflective Practice: I have designed this Kahoot! Lesson to help keep my students engaged, so they do not
start to drift during the lectures.
