FROM: B.J. Martino
DATE: April 17th, 2018
RE: Summary Findings From A Survey of Voters In New Mexico
______________________________________________________________________________

The Tarrance Group is pleased to present Pearce for New Mexico with summary findings
from a survey of voter attitudes in New Mexico. These findings are based on telephone
interviews with N=608 registered “likely” voters throughout the state. Responses to this
survey were gathered April 9-12, 2018 and the margin of error is + 4.1%.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Steve Pearce and Michelle Lujan Grisham are tied within the margin of error on the
ballot test in this recent survey. This represents a tightening in the race from our poll in
2017.

Currently, 45% of voters say they would prefer Steve Pearce the Republican, and 47% of
voters Michelle Lujan Grisham the Democrat.

Ballot Test

Pearce Undecided Lujan Grisham

45% 8% 47%

Michelle Lujan Grisham starts this race with significant structural advantages, including
national headwinds and a 14-point party registration differential, yet her inherent
weakness with voters and Steve Pearce’s underlying strengths continue to show up in the
numbers. At this time, the race for the next governor of New Mexico is a dead heat.
