April 11, 2018, Representative Daryl Metealfe and | engaged in a debate regarding a controversial amendment to a broadly co-sponsored piece of legislation that was just considered. Representative Metcalfe concluded our intense conversation by saying that “we'd have a very different conversation on the street.” Such language is commonly used as a threat of violence. And being that it is widely rumored that Representative Metcalfe carries a firearm on him inside of the capitol complex, I take that threat very seriously I must regularly interact with — and be in the same proximity as — Representative Metcalfe in order to carry out my duties as a state representative and member of the State Government Committee.
