April 16-20, 2018

Reading - Whew! We just powered through a long


week of testing stamina. But we’re not going to stop
there! In reading, we will be circling around to some April 19th & May 3rd -
review standards in the coming week. We will begin
Chic-Fil-A Spirit Nights
focusing on strengthening our strategies and
preparing for our transition to 5th grade.
May 4th - STEM Day @ Woodland
Writing - In writing, your students will explore
forms of writing that will hook their interest. I am
planning to dive into persuasive essays in the coming May 7th-11th - BOGO Book Fair
week. This writing will be integrated with the work we
are doing in our social studies unit as well as other May 18th - Field Day
subjects.
Social Studies - We have some major ground to May 24th - Last day of
cover in social studies. Your students left off on school/Report cards go home
Westward Expansion before spring break. Now, they will
get a chance to continue along our journey in exploring *Remember that attendance to
the Civil War. We will follow this with Reconstruction
school events earns you PAW
and then close out the year with personal
points on your PAW Pact card!*

As a reminder, please continue to get to school each
and every day ON TIME. As we round out the school
year, we will be using this valuable time after
Milestones to engage in preparation for 5th grade.
Students will also have time for creative projects & April 4th - Wally
various activities. I can’t wait to enjoy the rest of April 18th - Harris & Brooks

In the coming week, expect to see reading


comprehension articles coming home for
homework. These may be via NewsELA or
ReadWorks. Your students should spend time
