Committee: Environment and Public Works on Infrastructure
Topic- Water Sectors: Public and Private, Oklahoma community

Senator Scott--

The following is a recap on the hearing concerning water infrastructure and


development overseen by the committee on Environment and Public Works on
Infrastructure.

Opening
Chairman introduced committee and those presiding on it. Not all committee member
present. Gave a brief introduction to the case at hand and introduced the plaintiffs: Army
Corps of Engineers and local community (did not get the name of representative).
Chairman proceeded to open the floor.

Duration
● Army Corp wishes to utilize fresh water and shallow water ports in the area.
○ Will displace local fisherman and affect local property owners
● Local community does not want to be effected and displaces; relient on fishing
income and recreation.

Argument
● Fisherman will receive allocated funds from federal, Army Corp
● New administration to make economic growth a top priority
● Trade increase, benefiting local economy
○ Trade competitiveness will decrease as a result
● Local community is a municipality and therefore the waterway is controlled by the
Army Corp of Engineers

Conclusion
- Army Corp of Engineers will proceed; urbanization, use of ports.
- Fisherman will receive compensation
