Assessing Collaborations
The Task
With each assignment, you’ll provide a “progress report” that assesses the
dynamics of your group, and details the quality and quantity of the work
produced by individual members. Progress reports contain information on
the work you and your group members have done, emphasizing the
completed tasks and reporting any ‘snags’ encountered along the way.
Based on your readings of the keys to effective business writing, create a
1-page progress report as a memo or business letter (your choice)
assessing your group. What has worked well? What needs improvement?
What strategies might your group incorporate in the final projects to
ensure efficiency, accuracy, and quality? These reports will be used as a
formal way of assessing the collaborative nature of the project.
Requirements
• 1 page, with clear organization and reader-centered design
• Address the report to me, your instructor
• Begin the introductory paragraph outlining why you’re writing.
• Body paragraphs should recap your group’s activity and summarize the
group’s accomplishments. You should also identify the quality of work
done by individual group members.
• The conclusion should report any ‘snags’ or problems encountered by
the group, and the 

solution that the group formed.
Deadline 

Assessments are due with each assignment. The deadline falls on the class
period following a major assignment deadline. Print your reports and
submit at the start of class. The reports will remain between you and
myself, so please be honest about the work completed by members and
whether any obstacles are concerning to you.
