Associated Learning Standard(s): The resource may be generally applicable, if so, simply state that. List any ISTE-S standards that
seem to naturally align with the selected resource.
Empowered Learning
1a- Students articulate and set personal learning goals, develop strategies leveraging technology to achieve them and
reflect on the learning process itself to improve learning outcomes.
1b- Students build networks and customize their learning environments in ways that support the learning process.

Global Collaborator
7a- Students use digital tools to connect with learners from a variety of backgrounds and cultures, engaging with them
in ways that broaden mutual understanding and learning.

RESOURCE DESCRIPTION
Give a brief description of the technology/resource.

Evernote is an online forum for people to use to take notes that are accessible at all times through the internet. You can create
stacks of notes that are similar to each other to stay organized as well (i.e. recipes, assignments for a certain class, etc.). This can
also be shared to groups if there is need for collaboration on certain notes. You can also insert photos, voice memos, or
handwritten notes to share with people or use as reminders for yourself. These notes can be constantly edited and revisited from
any computer due to the fact that it is through the internet. Everything can be saved and accessed. These notes can also have files
attached them (i.e. other notes, word documents, etc).

INTEGRATION IDEA - PORTFOLIOS

How might you use this resource in a lesson plan to promote student-centered learning?

This site would be helpful for students who struggle with organization. Because everything is together in one place, and can be
placed in different categories, they can learn how to stay organized in school. Also, students can start assignments at school
computers and finish them at home. Or, if they do not have a computer at home at all, they can revisit it at the school computers
at a later date. Also, this has features that are very similar to Word that can assist in student learning assignments. They can
organize their notebooks by class, and have each of their class assignments placed under that notebook stack. As opposed to
having a backpack full of papers, students will keep all of their assignments on Evernote nice and tidy. Also, students will always
have access to the portfolio that they will build throughout the year

VALUE-ADDED EXPLANATION
 Based on the “value-added rating scale” above, how would you rate the technology integration you described, using the
selected resource?
 Explain your rating based on the rubric indicators.

I would rate this application a 2/3 on the value-added scale. Although it fits the technology standards and may add an easy way
for students to organize their work, I do not feel as though it would increase student’s engagement or allow for an exciting
environment for students to learn in. I feel as though it is a helpful tool, but will not add any more depth to the classroom. I do
not feel like a classroom without this application will suffer at all without it, nor do I feel like adding it to the classroom would
greatly improve the lessons. It is a nice tool that can be an option for student use, but I do not feel like it should be required,
especially if students do not have access to a computer at home. Also, there is not a huge chance that teachers will use this during
a lesson. It is more focused on how the students will build a portfolio to reference throughout the year. To me, GoogleDocs is very
similar and easy to use. If I needed to use something like this in my classroom, I would refer my students to use that instead.
