Semarang, 22 October 2017 - PT Kalbe Farma Tbk (Kalbe) through Kalbe Ethical
Customer Care (KECC) today holds a number of activities in commemoration with the World
Osteoporosis Day, among which are bone health exercises, health checks that include bone
density test, joint inflammations, biological age, blood sugar levels, as well as a talk show
with dr. Hadi Kurniawan, Sp.KFR as resource with the topic of Myth and Facts Surrounding
Bone Loss & Joint Pains. The event that starts on 6.30 WIT will be held at Semesta Hotel,
Semarang.

"Through this event, we hope that people would not merely know of osteoporosis, but takes
part in the preventative measures for it,” said Yulia Kowira, Senior Product Manager of PT
Kalbe Farma Tbk. "This event is becoming a routine schedule done by KECC and we also
conduct free bone checks, health seminars in a number of communities, health consultation
and education every month in different scales.”

World Osteoporosis Day is commemorated on every October 20. The World Osteoporosis
Day 2016 takes the theme "Love Your Bones, Protect Your Future" to increase the global
public awareness in the prevention of osteoporosis. Through this year's commemoration, the
general public is expected to decrease the number of osteoporosis by making a habit of
working out, bone-health-based diets, and avoidance of unhealthy lifestyle.

Prevention of osteoporosis should start from the early age, when the baby is developing in
the womb and during childhood and teenage years, toward the later age when half of one's
bone mass is accumulated. Through life, our bones need proper nutrition to remain strong by
having high-nutrition diet that consists of adequate calcium, vitamin D intake, protein, and
micronutrient (i.e. Vitamin K, magnesium, and iron). A healthy lifestyle, adequate exercise

and osteoporosis medication for those with high risk can also help in forming good bone
health and osteoporosis prevention.

Osteoporosis is a global issue where nowadays is experienced by a younger age group. At


present, Indonesia has approximately 250 million populations and is estimated that 71 million
of it will be over 60 years of age by year 2050. It is estimated that 28.7% men and 32.3%
women will be diagnosed with osteoporosis. This disease is also known as the silent
epidemic.
