To Whom It May Concern,

Paige Boyd taught second grade at Washington Elementary in Salt Lake City, Utah during the
spring semester of 2018. I served as her site teacher during her 12 weeks of student teaching through
the University of Utah. Paige’s responsibilities during student teaching have included planning,
instruction, assessment of second grade content in all academic areas. She participates weekly in
professional learning communities with academic coaches and common planning with grade level
colleagues.

I have found Paige to be a dependable and thoughtful educator. She has leveraged her
knowledge on the Common Core Standards to present engaging lessons. She is attuned to the needs of
the students and teaches well in whole group, small group and one-on-one arrangements. In addition,
she has worked to maintain the classroom culture and management systems. Paige teaches with
composure and a calm demeanor. She is reflective of her own teaching practice. I have been impressed
by her willingness to be observed by a variety of staff and her willingness to co-teach with myself and
teachers pushing-in to support student learning.

Paige has many skills that will serve her in becoming an effective classroom teacher. She plans,
instructs, and communicates clearly. She understands the importance of developing relationships with
students and maintaining a positive learning environment through explicit behavior expectations and
positive cuing. As Paige’s experience in the classroom continues to grow, I am confident she will become
an effective educator.
