T3.1.1 Examination
According EN 81-1:1998, Annex D.
Standard procedures to install and test GED10/20 safety gears and GBP overspeed governor are
explained on K603433 and K601885 documents.
In case the Safety Gear braking distance is not according specifications, corrections should be made
according K603435.
Nevertheless, the additional information below is especially adapted to the S001 Rel. 3 characteristics
Preconditions
; Electrical and mechanical parts completely installed. Especially, the car must have its final total weight
including mirror, deco-ceiling…
; Recall Control ESE available, to perform the test and to be able to move the car in "Recall Mode" –
even if KF and KBV are open)
; Check that the safety gear is well centered [S = 1.5 – 2 mm] and adjust if necessary using the screw A.
; Real BKS: check that the black skate doesn't stand more than 3 mm inside the rail (right figure)
; Correct Cwt balance must be checked: see page 18 "Counterweight Balancing"
WARNING! The motor does not have enough moment/power to recover the car loaded with 125%
rated load. For this reason, it's important to test the safety gear when the car is next to a landing
door. In this way, you can access the car, unload a portion of the weight and recover the safety
gear to the normal position using the Recall Control (ESE).
It is forbidden to perform the safety gear test with no load in the car!
1. Bring the test load (125% GQ) in at least two portions to the top floor.
2. Select the “Test mode” [__/__/20] on the MMI & press 'OK' Æ [20/__/_0]
3. Activate the “Test mode” by changing the value to [20/__/_1] & press 'OK' Æ [20/__/_1]
4. The car travels to the LDU floor (if needed) and opens the door. The door remains open Æ [__/__/- -]
5. Select ‘Start Test Safety Gear’ [__/__/35] on the MMI & press the ‘OK’ button.
6. The control disables the car load cell in order to prevent activation of overload function.
7. If the LDU floor is not the top floor the car travels automatically to the top floor and opens the door.
The door remains open on the top floor.
8. The MMI shows that the test is active by displaying ‘Test Safety Gear active’' Æ [35/__/_1]
9. Load the car with the test load.
10. Press the DT-S button on the COP and the door closes Æ [35/__/_2]
11. If the LDU floor is not the top floor, walk down to the LDU floor.
12. Connect the ESE and switches JRH on.
Execution
13. Press the DRH-D button on the ESE to close the safety chain and keep it pressed.
14. Push the ‘OK’ button on the MMI Æ [35/__/__]
15. The control informs the FC to drive the machine and keeps the brake open during the next trip until the
brake closing command from the control (the FC deactivates the monitoring functions which normally
stop the FC immediately).
16. The car starts a trip to the bottom floor.
17. The car reaches nominal speed, indicated by a short beep.
18. The controller activates the output to trigger the overspeed governor (solenoid controlled by relay).
The MMI shows “Nominal Speed reached” Æ [35/__/_1]
19. Press the button DBV when the car arrives at the beginning of a door unlocking zone to trigger the
overspeed governor and safety gear.
20. The car stops while the brakes are kept open.
21. Release the DRH-D button of the ESE (quote from the norm: “until the ropes slip or become slack”),
which opens the safety circuit & closes the brake.
22. After a delay of 2 sec. (from the moment when the push button DBV was pressed) the control sends a
‘stop’ command to the FC.
23. The control informs the FC to terminate the special test mode (see step 14).
24. The MMI shows “Test Safety Gear successful” Æ [35/_1/__]
25. Check for possible damage on the car and the guide rails.
26. Check the state of KBV (SMIC between KBV [1] & KBV [2]) & KF (SDIC between UCC [6] & UCC [7]).
Completion
8.b The test is cancelled because the car is not on the LDU floor. The MMI shows ‘Test Safety Gear
aborted’ and the error ‘CAR_NOT_AT_LDU_FLOOR‘ is entered in the log Æ [35/_0/_2]
14.b Cancel the test before execution by pressing the ‘ESC’ button Æ [35/_0/_3]
15.b The test is cancelled because the car is not on the top floor. The MMI shows ‘Test Safety Gear
aborted’ and the error ‘CAR_NOT_AT_TOP_FLOOR‘’ is entered in the log Æ [35/_0/_1]
18.b The trip is finished normally if the car does not reach nominal speed during the trip. The error
‘NOMINAL_SPEED_NOT_REACHED’ is entered in the log. (see also step 18.b) Æ [35/_0/_4]
18.c In case of trouble release the ESE button down (DRH-D) during the trip, the car will make an
emergency stop. The test is aborted. The MMI shows ‘Test Safety Gear aborted’ Æ [35/_0/_5]
19.b If the button DBV will be pressed before the car reaches nominal speed the safety gear is triggered
as soon as the car reaches the nominal speed Æ [35/_0/_4]
19.c The trip is finished normally if the button DBV is not pressed during the trip. If the FC is not able to
slow down the car because of the load it detects the error ‘FC_OVERCURRENT‘ and the trip will be
interrupted with an emergency stop after the FC opens the safety circuit. If the car does not stop on
the bottom floor level it will run into the KNE switch, and the safety circuit opens, the car might run
into the buffer Æ [35/_0/_6]
19 d If the car is not loaded with at least half load (50% GQ), the test will be aborted. The MMI shows
'Insufficient Car Load' Æ [35/_0/_7]. Escape from the test procedure, load the car with sufficient
weight (125% GQ) and start the procedure from beginning.
19 e If there is a communication problem between elevator control and ACVF, the test will be aborted.
The MMI shows 'No CarLoad Information' Æ [35/_0/_8]. Escape from the test procedure, check the
ACVF SW and start the procedure from beginning.
31.b If it is not possible to release the car from the safety gear with ESE, remove part of the test weights
from the car & try again.
33.b If the car has moved, the safety gear is not engaged correctly & the test will have to be redone.
Remarks
- The overspeed governor is not triggered during a normal trip (test not active) when the button DBV is
pressed.
- Verify the calibration of the car load cell (CLC) after the test.
- The braking marks have to be measured after the test and should be between 59…125 mm. (see
K603435)
1. Pull-out the PLUG1 from LDU.SMIC.XESE, connect the ESE and activate the “Recall Mode” (JRH)
2. Move the car upwards, until the car roof is ± at the top floor level that you will be able to enter the car
roof
3. Select the “Special mode” [__/__/10] on the MMI & press 'OK' Æ [10/__/__]
4. Activate the “GBP-Reset mode” by changing the value to [10/__/_3] & press 'OK' Æ [10/3_/_0]
5. Unplug the KBV-plug from LDU.SMIC.KBV
6. Plug-in the "GBP-Reset"-plug on LDU.SMIC.KBV (this connector overbridges the KBV contact in the
safety circuit
; One person accesses the pit, after which a second person puts the car 1 m above the bottom floor
level
; Push the JHSG stop device.
; Check the state of the KBV contact. (SMIC between KBV [1] & KBV [2])
; Release the governor rope from the car.
; Accelerate the rope to cause the governor to trip
; Measure the tripping speed on the tensioning device pulley.
; Confirm the opening of the KBV contact after OSG tripping.
