This document outlines a reflection process for members of the Society of the Sacred Heart on justice, peace and integrity of creation (JPIC). It invites participation in discussion groups between November 2017 and May 2018 to prepare for an international JPIC meeting in the Philippines in November 2018. The process involves three stages: [1] sharing experiences of insights around JPIC, [2] exploring issues in broader contexts, and [3] connecting insights to the Society's wisdom and traditions. Input from the discussion groups will help set the agenda for collective action at the international meeting.

To be One Body which loves, practices and gives witness to
justice, peace and integrity of creation at all levels of our life and mission.
General Chapter 2016
JUSTICE, PEACE AND INTEGRITY OF CREATION
Dear Sisters and Friends
In the preparation for the General Chapter 2016, JPIC was
named as an emerging call by nearly all Provinces/Districts/Areas of the Society. As a result of this the Chapter called for a JPIC international meeting to place within two years of the Chapter. So now, we invite you all to help prepare for this International JPIC meeting which will take place in The Philippines from November 14-24th, 2018.
Our process will follow a simple form of the See-Judge-Act
model, starting as always, with our own experience. The preparation for the JPIC International meeting will take place between the Feast of St Rose Philippine Duchesne (Nov 18th 2017) and the Feast of St Madeleine Sophie Barat (May 25th 2018). JPIC is a vital expression of the Society’s charism and we entrust this work to the intercession of these holy women.
JPIC link persons in each province/district/area are being
asked to help organise and animate the preparation process. Your input will contribute to the work of the international meeting in 2018. There is great flexibility in the preparation process so each province/district/area can adapt their input according to their own reality.
Our world is so desperately in need of peace. As educators,
let us draw from the depths of our own history and tradition in the Society of the Sacred Heart. We count on the prayers of all our sisters.
INTERNATIONAL JPIC COORDINATION COMMITTEE, OCTOBER 2017
COMPASSION – RELATIONSHIP - TRANSFORMATION PAGE 2
JUSTICE, PEACE AND INTEGRITY OF CREATION
The process has three goals:
1. To live compassion by coming together to listen deeply to the
cries of humanity and all earth community
2. To establish relationships that impel us to act as one Society,
and to decide how we are to act as One Body in the pursuit of JPIC
3. To transform attitudes and action in view of deepening our
expression of JPIC for the Society's life and mission
Timeline of the process
Each province will be invited to form “reflection-discernment
groups” according to their context and realities. For example: RSCJ and collaborators engaged in education in schools, RSCJ and collaborators engaged in popular education, retired RSCJ, novices, etc. We will rely on the JPIC Link Persons to organise and animate these groups. We suggest three sessions over the next 6 months but flexibility is important. By May 25th 2018 (Feast of St Madeleine Sophie) the JPIC Link Person sends a written record of your answers to the JPIC committee at jpic@rscjroma.org We would love to have a photograph of each group. From there the international JPIC committee will work with our facilitators (Imma de Stefanis rscj and Reyna Gonzalez rscj) to prepare and finalise the international JPIC meeting in November 2018. You will notice that the introductory letter is addressed to friends and collaborators as well as sisters. Our companions in mission are warmly invited to take part in the process.

STAGE ONE: Sharing our stories
1. What has been a ‘Rebecca’ moment for you in in
your understanding, living or practice of JPIC? (Philippine Duchesne set out on the ship ‘Rebecca’ with faith and conviction to new frontiers. A Rebecca moment is a term that has come to mean a time of deep insight, change or action.)
2. From the sharing of the first question, what has
moved me? What am I aware of in myself?
3. From your sharing of these Rebecca moments,
what is a key insight that has emerged for this group which you would like to take further? Decide as a group how you will pursue this insight from now until you meet again for the Stage Two sharing.
Please record this either in writing or in some other
way – creativity is welcome!

STAGE TWO:
Exploring the broader context of the issues – the
social, scientific, environmental, political, cultural and economic spheres.
1. Share how each member deepened their
understanding of the insight which the group decided to pursue? (Was it something you read or was it a talk someone has given? Is it the witness of someone you know or know about? Was it something in the media?)
2. As a group, come up with a synthesis of what you
have learned as you pursued this insight. Is there anything about the structures, causes, historical and cultural roots or any other realities which helped you to understand this insight?
Please record this either in writing or in some other way –
creativity is welcome!

STAGE THREE: Connecting with our Wisdom and Tradition.
1. As a group identify what have been the Society
documents (from 1970 onwards) that inspired or challenged you to pursue your “Rebecca moment” in living and practicing JPIC. What was the specific section of the Society document?
2. In what ways have the Scriptures influenced your
commitment to JPIC?
3. How has Pope Francis’ Encyclical Laudato Si’
influenced your commitment to JPIC?
4. Try to express in words and/or symbols the JPIC
themes and concepts that generate energy and action for your group.
5. What for you is the relationship between justice,
peace and the integrity of creation?
Please record this either in writing or in some other way –
creativity is welcome!
Thank you for all this work!
Your sharing and discernment in Stages 1 – 3 will give the
international meeting a starting point for the ACT part of the See-Judge-Act process.
