C.A. Roberts Elementary school has a total enrollment of 654 students in grades pre-
kindergarten through grade five with approximately 42 full-time teachers. This school is located
in northwestern Paulding County and first opened in August of 1998. Approximately 300 students

the 2016-2017 school year. This school receives approximately $5,000 annually for the media
center budget, with an additional $1,000 from book fair funds and an additional $200 from PTA

Print Materials
Books will continually be weeded, examined, and refreshed. Books purchased will include
a variety of fiction and non-fiction books that align with the Georgia Standards of Excellence and
Georgia Performance Standards. The library will also purchase Georgia Book Award and Newbery
Award books. Each grade level will supply a list of requested books to the school media specialist
at the end of each year. These books will align with that grade’s specific standards.
Periodicals and subscriptions will be used to provide current research materials as well as
to increase student interest. These may include Time for Kids, National Geographic Kids,
Zoobooks, American Girl, Sports Illustrated Kids, and Ranger Rick depending on a survey of
student and teacher interests.
Software
Accelerated Reader, MobyMax, MyOn.com, and PebbleGo.com are used as supplemental
materials to enhance reading, writing, science, and social studies. These have shown to be highly
engaging for students and have shown positive reviews from teachers.
02AV Materials
This will include books on CD, educational DVDs, and CD players at the request of
teachers. These have shown especially helpful for beginning readers, ELL students, and with the
special education department.
Makerspace Materials
In an effort to make the library a hub for engagement and collaboration, various
STEM/STEAM activities will be provided. These spaces will start small to provide time for
students to learn how to use makerspaces, and to provide time for teachers and the media specialist
to collaborate on what makerspaces they would like to see in the library. These spaces will begin
with a building station, a creation station, and an engineering station.
Equipment/ Technology
Tablets, eBooks, and headphones will be used in the library and be available for checkout
for teachers. All tablets will be compatible with MobyMax, Accelerate Reader, MyOn, and
PebbleGo. New tablets and additional eBooks will be purchased each year based on student and
teacher needs and interests. Headphones will be purchased each year to accompany tablets, CD
players, and computers.
Supplies
These will include consumables for lessons by the media specialist and consumables for
makerspaces. These will be used to enhance learning across the curriculum outside of the
classroom. This will also include materials to repair books and laminate film. This will ensure that
all materials stay usable and long-lasting.
