Attn: HR Manager

My name is Karen Y. Dyer, and I am submitting my resume for your review and
consideration for the position of Administrative Analyst with the City of Compton, which
was posted on the City of Compton website.
I have 20+ years of administrative experience providing direct administrative and executive support
to senior-level management, CEOs, and entire management teams. The role of Administrative
Analyst requires someone who is a self-starter as well as knows how to take direction. I know how to
assume a leadership position when necessary while always working for the good of the team. No job
is too big or too small for me. I have the willingness and flexibility to complete a project.
During my four-and-a-half-year term with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Social
Services (DPSS), I was an Eligibility Worker, managing an active caseload of up to 2000. While as
an Eligibility Worker, I was selected (on special assignment) to be a part of the pioneering team to
build the newly formed Communications Section of the Department. I served as Acting Marketing
Analyst, making staffing and project management recommendations, advising on external
technical/web-based tools and designed internal policies to streamline workflow processes. Currently,
I serve as Staff Assistant for one of the largest and busiest districts within the Department.
I want to work for the City of Compton because of its trailblazing mayor, Aja Brown. I admire her
accepting former President Obama’s “My Brother’s Keeper” Initiative. I am passionate about
working with the underserved and dedicated to serving the community. Serving under extraordinary
leadership such as Mayor Brown would be an extreme pleasure.
I think my above-stated experience, knowledge, skills, and passion uniquely qualify me for the
position of Administrative Analyst.
Regards,
Karen Y. Dyer
