Anchorage Work Method Statement

METHOD STATEMENT FOR ANCHORING

GENERAL
This method statement is intended to be a step by step sequential ordering of all

the operations entailed in the preparation, fabrication, installation, grouting and

stressing of tie back ground anchor.

2. The anchors data:

2.1 Ground Anchor
There are three kinds of anchors:
TYPE SECTION 1-1 SECTION 2-2

For increasing the integrity of shoring system, waler beam is to be set at the
anchor level. In order to save time, steel beam with UC steel is
adopted. The calculation and detailed drawings of waler beam see
Appendix A and B.

3. EQUIPMENTS

Following equipments are to be utilized during the execution of Anchoring works:

1. Anchoring Machine : 1 No.
2. Grouting Plant : 1 No.
3. Coring machine : 1 No. (If required)

4.0 SEQUENCE OF WORK

The sequence of work will be as follows:

1. Excavation down to anchor level
2. Coring & Drilling Works
3. Installation of Anchors
4. Grouting of Anchors
5. Stressing of Anchors

5. TENDON FABRICATION
Required lengths of strands are cut from coil fixed in stand. The strands are tied with spacers
provided with a grouting hose in middle. The Grouting hose is punctured at the grouting
length area and holes are covered with insulation tape. The free length of strands is covered
with PVC sleeve pipe to avoid the surface contact with grout mix.

6. INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
An anchoring machine shall be used to install the tie back anchors. Following
sequence shall be adopted for the installation of the anchors.

a) Install the anchoring machine at approximately the same level of the anchor
head. Adjust the swing mast to the required inclination to meet the design/site requirement.

b) Temporary steel casing of Ǿ150 mm shall be drilled through the soil with the help of its
water flushing system. In order to prevent any escape of soil while drilling, the casing shall
be provided with an end plug.

c) After reaching the required anchor length, ready-made anchor with grout pipe at the
middle will be inserted into the casing. The temporary casing shall be withdrawn after filling
the bore hole with cement grout. The grouting process will continue until the grout has
replaced the water in hole completely.

7 THE CEMENT GROUT MIX DESIGN WILL BE AS FOLLOWS :

OPC Cement grout mixture (per batch): 2 bags cement = 100 kg

45 liters water = 100 kg
W/C ratio = 0.45
Design compressive strength of grout at 7 days = 15 N/mm2
* Test Results of grout can be provided prior to start the execution of grouting.

8.ANCHOR STRESSING
Stressing of Anchors shall be started after 7 days satisfactory test result of grouting. The
governing factor to make decision on the stressing and use of equipment are directly related
with soil. Our team will be using mono-stressing jack of capacity 240 KN with stroke 100
mm. Anchor plates of size 115 mm x 60 mm and Bearing Plates of 250 x 250 x 20 mm will be
used in combination with stressing wedges (3 part) to stress each strand in Anchor and will
be given required stress and corresponding elongation will be noted.

Initially a pressure of 50 Bar is applied to tighten the free strands. Then the pressure is
released to zero and initial measurement of strand is taken. Apply the pressure @ 25% of the
required pressure at the intervals of 30 Seconds. After achieving the required pressure
wedges are locked and final measurement of strand is taken to calculate the elongation.

will be submitted on daily basis duly stamped and signed by our
engineer.
