use complete sentences that begin with a capital letter, use correct ending punctuation, and use
commas in dates. The student will also know to capitalize days of the week and months of the
year and capitalize names of people.

Rationale: The intent of this lesson is for students to be able to properly learn to generate a
sentence using the correct placement of punctuation, capitalization, and letter formation.

Objective(s) of the lesson: The student will be able to properly use complete sentences in final
copies by beginning each sentence with capital letters and ending punctuations.
The student will be able to accurately form letters and have a distinct space between words when
writing sentences.

Lesson Opening: The students will be asked to write their alphabet in both upper and lowercase
letters on the top of their paper. I will then ask the students to name situations in which they
would use capital letters. (beginning of the sentence, names, months and days). I will ask them to
each write examples of each using capital letters only where they are supposed to be.

Connection: They will be able to see how sentence structure is important to the understanding of
their writings and how it will help to improve their writing.

Instructional Strategies/Processes: The students will be asked to work together to come up

with a sentence and watch as I write the sentence as I write what they say. Providing an example
I will then have them copy down the sentence as I have written. They will then be able to see an
example of a correctly structured sentence.

Products: The papers that they will be handing in that they have written their examples on will
be turned in to be evaluated of their growth.

Assessment: The students will be asked to write their own sentence using the examples that they
mentioned earlier and incorporate correct sentence structure.

Closure: The students will share their sentences with the rest of the group and they will work
together to see if they each have correct structure within each of their sentences.

Differentiation: Each aspect will be helping students with their own individual needs.
