capital gains taxes, c) take the full market value of the security as a
2017 tax donation (regardless of what you may have originally paid for
it), d) possibly satisfy your 2017 Required Minimum Distribution (RMD)
if you are over age 70½, and e) benefit Aldersgate UMC with the full
market value of the security(s). You may also fulfill some/all of your December 31, 2017

Confirmation Classes will begin in 2018

Make a reservation for the January 14 information luncheon
(Reservations due by January 9th)
On January 14, 2018 at 12:15 PM, youth and there parents are invited to
attend an information luncheon regarding the confirmation program at
Aldersgate Church.
Confirmation at Aldersgate Church is a series of classes that help youth
currently in the sixth grade or higher explore their faith and discern
whether they are ready to make a profession of faith in Jesus Christ!
During confirmation classes, confirmands learn about the meaning of
Christian faith, the history and teaching of the United Methodist Church,
an explanation of the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion, and
the membership vows of the church.
Please join us for this time of fellowship with your youth and others for
this informational meeting. Please contact Amy O’Brien at the church
office (434.973.5806) no later than January 9 to reserve a seat.

New Class Begins January 16th!
Paul's First Letters: A Study of Galatians and First Thessalonians
A NEW four-week Bible study begins on Tuesday, January 16th! Make a
New Year's Resolution to read God's Word and join the class. Our study
will cover what most scholars believe are not only the first writings of
Paul but also the first writings of the New Testament. Pastor Rob
Robertson will facilitate the class.
We will meet from 10:00 to approximately 11:15am in the Choir Room,
BUT we are seeking to see who would be interested in a evening study.
Use the Sunday Communication Card in your bulletin if you are
interested. Everyone is invited to attend whether this is your first study
or you have been part of numerous bible studies!

Summer 2018 Youth Group
Summer will be here before we know it so mark your calendars!
On June 3rd at 5:00 PM, all Middle and High School youth who will be
participating in any of the Weekly Summer 2018 Youth Group Ministry
activities will need to plan to attend this Mandatory Meeting and Dinner
for parents and youth.
