Dental clinic network installation

Step 1.
Unzip server zip archive to some folder

e.g.

E:\mydentalsoftware\server

and if you want to use on same pc client software unzip it to

E:\mydentalsoftware\client

Step 2.
if you have license file (lic.reg), copy it in folder:

E:\mydentalsoftware\server

Step3.
Share

E:\mydentalsoftware\server\database

folder. Here are instructions how to do it:

- Right mouse click on database folder

- Click on properties and select Sharing tab

- Click on Advanced sharing

- Click on permissions
- remember that share name is database you may change it here, but then also later during client installation
you need to set that new name

- And select as it on picture above

Than confirm all changes by clicking on OK button. So now we have dental clinic server prepared to work.

Step4.
In folder E:\mydentalsoftware\server

You have file server.exe, start it.

You will be asked to enter some password (only when you start software for the first time, so enter something and
remember it).

– Now we started dental server and we will have screen as this:

Remember value for port: 83. If port is already taken by some other application, contact me so I will explain how to
change it.

Dental clinic client software preparation

So let assume that IP address of PC where dental clinic server is started is: 192.168.100.1 and its network name is
NAME1

Initfile.dj file is same in all client installations.

Step1.
Open file E:\mydentalsoftware\client\initfile.dj in notepad.

Change lines

network=ENABLED
network dir=\\192.168.100.1\database\
serverName=192.168.100.1
serverPort=83
computer name=NAME1

Note that server port 83 is same as on server console on picture on previous page.

Save file and start

e:\mydentalsoftware\client\\mydental.exe

And on server console you should see:

Name 1 connected
Name 1 disconnected

(You will see these two lines every time you start some dental clinic client)
