Rasinski analyzed the effectiveness of using repeated reading and listening-while-reading
approaches on students’ reading fluency in this article.The post-test and pretest score of third grades students from Southern US were used to make a judgment and to found the effect of both approaches on students reading fluency. The author also gave several ways to increase students reading fluency through the two approaches. Rasinski was focused to analyze which approaches were dominated and proved in increasing students’ reading fluency. This research useful for people because this is the first study to prove the effects of two approaches to the fluency of reading. The limitation of this research is the author seems more explained about listening-while- reading in discussion part, so the readers could not get more explanation about the repeated reading used on students reading fluency. The study proved both two approaches were effective in increasing students’ reading fluency and no approach was dominant. The author also hoped the reading curriculum notice and consider repeated reading and listening-while-reading approaches use in the classroom. This research may useful for my future thesis about reading skills because it proved and discussed certain approaches to increase the students reading fluency.
