Dear Parent or Guardian,

I want to take this opportunity to formally introduce myself and express my excitement
about working with your child this semester. My name is Alexis Halstead and I will be
completing my student teaching assignment in your students’ classroom. I am currently
studying Agricultural Education at Ithaca College, jointly with Cornell University. Student
teaching is the final step I will take before receiving my teaching credentials. I will work in
the classroom everyday with your student until this May.

As a student teacher I will spend time observing the class structure, routine and lessons
that Mrs. Allen teaches. I will work closely with Mrs. Allen to co-plan and teach lessons in
the classroom. With the assistance of Mrs. Allen, I will gradually take on all responsibilities
of the classroom teacher. I look forward to working with such a wonderful group of
students. Prior to working in Mrs. Allen’s classroom, I was an agricultural student at SUNY
Cobleskill. I have also worked in various agricultural jobs, from a sawmill to a dairy farm.

Teaching and working with children is a joy to me, and I am so pleased to finally be able to
work in a classroom full-time! Part of my goal as an educator is to spark curiosity in the
minds of students. During my time in your student’s class, I hope to excite your student
about the world of agriculture and broaden his or her academic interest.

I would like to thank you for providing me with the opportunity to work with your child. I
look forward to learning from my mentor teacher and from your child. I look forward to
meeting you!

Please do not hesitate to call or email me if you have time, as I would welcome the
opportunity to get to know you along with your child.

Sincerely,

Alexis Halstead
