Introduction
Group 9 decided to understand the research question of, “Does your consumption of
caffeine and or energy drinks affect your GPA?” During the time frame provided in class
group 9 created a list of questions for a survey in Google Docs Form and after a couple of
days our group received 154 responses to our questions which included:

Graph one, shows the labels (freshman, sophomore, Junior, Senior) on the bottom
axis. Freshman bar shown in blue is ranked the highest most answered class at 89
freshman students. The second highest class are the sophomore bar shown in orange with
35 students who answered. The third highest class are the juniors bar shown in the grey
with 19 students responded. The fourth rank one are the seniors bar shown in the yellow

Graph two, shows the labels (Female, Male, Other, and Prefer not to answer) on
the bottom axis. The gender role of 118 female had answer our survey questions which is
higher than the role of a male with had about 31 who had answered our survey questions.
We had a third and fourth opinion that we labeled, “Other” and “Prefer not to answer”
because we felt it was reasonable to respect the role of gender equality. The results of
these two had “other” at zero and “prefer not to answer” at two responses.

Graph three, is a label graphed with the different types of colleges that are
available on campus and for the person who is answering the questions it gives them the
opportunity to represent their college of field they’re studying and it gives us an idea on
studying. The highest ranking numbers that we collected was at the “Teachers College,
Mary Lou Fulton” with 78 students who answered our survey questions and from the
“College of Liberal Arts and Sciences” we received 38 students who answered. For other
colleges their numbers were under 10 and that was “W.P. Carey School of Business with
4 responses”, Herzberger Institute for Designs and the Arts with 4”, “Honors: Barrett,
The Honors College at ASU with 7”, Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass
Communication with 4”, “College of Public Service and Community Solutions with 4”,

Graph four, shows four different options that our responders seen to pick a certain
answer to understand our question for the research which we asked, “Does your
consumption of caffeine and or energy drinks affect your GPA? “. Therefore, this gives
us the data information to view what type of caffeine is being more consume to keep
students aware to either increase or decrease their performances towards their GPA. Our
prediction for our research question was that coffee or the use of energy were going to
receive the most responses and the graphs shows that our prediction was estimated
slightly correct. The most used caffeine that we collect was the use of coffee with 78
responses, Tea had 25 responses, Energy Drink had 19 responses, and 31 responses

Graph five, shows the comparison between the average caffeine consumption
average hours that is consumed during the week the dramatic spike of caffeine consumed
is in the Maximum rage. The maximum range is the largest number in a set of data and
our data base has a maximum of 60. The Minimum is set to the opposite range with the
smallest number in a set of data and our data has a minimum of 0. Next is the median
which is the understanding of the middle number in a group of ordered numbers and our
data shows 6 and the Mode is the number that appears the most often within a set of
numbers and our data shows 0. Finally, the average is the value that can an existing in the
data that can help understanding the value of the same item.

Graph six, shows the comparison between the Ounces consumed on the type of
caffeine that is being consumed. On the bottom of the graph shows the Minimum,
Maximum, Mode, Median, and Average. Going from left to right the Minimum is the set
of opposite range with the smallest numbers and our data shows 0. The Maximum is a set
of numbers with the largest outcome and our data shows 75. The mode is the set of
numbers that appears the most and the mode on our data shows 0. The median is the
understanding of the middle set numbers in a group of ordered numbers and our data has
form that will point out the same item and in our data shows a number of 11.

Graph 7, shows the comparison based off the data to show the understanding
between the Minimum, Maximum, Mode, Median, and Average. In the data that shown
the Minimum is the form that is shown from left to right and at the beginning is the
minimum which is the understanding of the set of opposite range with the smallest
numbers and our data shows 0. The maximum is a set of numbers with the largest
numbers and our data base is set to 4.02. The Mode is the set of numbers that appears
throughout the data multiple areas and our mode shows 3 times that is appearing. The
median is the middle set of numbers that helps the data to balance out and our data is set
at 3.3, and the average of the value is the existing data and our data is set at 3.24.

Our survey question “Does your consumption of caffeine and or energy drinks
affect your GPA?” Is a research question that we took time to make a survey to collect
data and understanding if caffeine does effect a student’s GPA? The data and charts are
an understanding based off our survey questions, and the average outcome on our
predictions on which caffeine would be consumed. Looking at the data and charts the
conclusion gave reasoning to understand most college student but not all students from
the same college use the source of caffeine to beware of academic activities. Other
question that was being asked is it the consuming of alcohol plays a good part of
effecting a student’s GPA and if so how would a student react toward the negative
outcome, but other than the research question that we asked give us a clear understanding
on how many student use a certain amount of caffeine on and off campus.
