Using specific examples, analyze the impact that geography has had on the development of

civilization from pre-history to present day?

Geography has made a big impact on China development of civilization. Geographically

china is at prime location. Features include mountains ranges, water ways, and development of

culture. China is filled with different longitudes and latitudes with all the mountain.

China has one of the most known mountain ranges call the Himalayas. They are found

south western half of China. They have a great importance as to creating a natural barrier. They

block off countries coming in and taking over from the that side. They also cause lower

population rates in south west side of China. Although that’s the largest mountain range in

China, its still filled with other mountains and hills. Around the rim of China there are barrier

that protect china from all sides.

Another barrier is the Pacific Ocean. This is found along the whole east coast of China.

This massive water supply allows china to have good trade. Therefore, they import and export a

lot of goods to and from their country. That is not the only water supply as china has many

rivers, for example the yellow river which is one of the longest. With all this water around it
makes for good soil so they can plant and grow food. With one of the main water sources being

on the east coast a lot of people are around there.

China has gone through many different people taking over their land. They are called

dynasty. Each dynasty has come with different cultures so, every time someone new came they

would learn something and make it a custom. One dynasty started a wall that would create a

barrier for the the other dynasties not to be able to enter. Called the Great Wall of China, it is

large and split up into different sections. Even built thousand years ago it still stands in some

places. Since so many things happening in east china that’s where the population grew, so in

present day china has so many people that live around major cities including Hong Kong,

shanghai, and Beijing.

China has had great success building their country. Due to their location there are

mountains ranges, water ways, and different developments into their culture. China has used the

geography strategically and has developed and good civilization.
