Title: Children’s day

Time: 10-15 minutes

Objectives: To teach students about diversity by introducing them to a national holiday of

another culture. Have student’s make replica Koinobori flags to create the atmosphere of
Children’s day.

Materials:
- Toilet paper rolls
- Glue
- Tissue paper
- Yarn
- Wiggle eyes
- Wood sticks
Instruction:

I. Introduction
A. Provide students with the history of Children’s day
B. Explain how the day is celebrated and traditions.

II. Body
A. Hand out materials
B. Show example of pre made Koinobori flag
C. Give instructions on how to make flag

III. Conclusion
A. Walk around observing student’s progress.
B. Allow students to hang flags in class.
