Q1: Who/What is the responsible for the fall?


A: Gender is responsible for Macbeth’s fall as Lady Macbeth pressures him into being a
man.
E1: “Yet do I fear thy nature; / It is too full o’ th’ milk of human kindness” (1.5 15-16).
E2: “I am a man again. Pray you sit still” (3.4 108).

Q2: What others think and why they’re wrong.


A: People can argue that Macbeth is driven by Ambition but its Macbeth trying to prove
his manhood that gives him ambition.
E1: “I have no spur/ To prick the sides of intent, but only/ Vaulting ambition which
o’erleaps itself...other” (1.7 25-28).

Claim: Gender is responsible for Macbeth’s fall as lady Macbeth pressures him into
being a man. Others say ambition and fear are the cause of his fall but Macbeth
questioning his manhood seems to be the backbone of both ambition and fears.
