The Bollywood diva Song

The song, with its catchy lyrics ('Cause I Have Vagina Re') set to the tune of Jaqueline Fernandez's
‘Chittiyan Kalaiyan Ve’, is a take down of everything that's wrong with the Hindi film industry. The
lyrics tackle sexism and objectification of women .

Discrimination towards female actors can be seen when Kangana tells the director that it was
illogical to have a physicist say all those things about “rubbing Iodex” he asks her to do her work
but when the hero tells him the same thing, he calls him “smart.”

“Mere Seene Pe Mal De Iodex Hoton Se” , this line is there to take a potshot at all the popular item
Bollywood songs, which have no other purpose than objectifying the female body.

How Bollywood Songs Normalise Harassment, Stalking, And Sexism

The problem is with the message that the movie or the song is conveying to its audience.

“Glorifying “eve-teasing”, normalising stalking, and romanticising rape, send the message that such
lewd behaviour is ‘cool’.”

These lines in the article show that such acts are “cool” , when the audience see such acts done by
someone they like (the hero) they assume that such a behaviour is appropriate and a way to steal
a girls heart .

when such lyrics or actions appear on screen, they are said/acted by the 'hero' (the 'good' guy) of
the movie, which leads the audience to think that it is 'good'/'cool' to do the exact same thing in real
life. And he also gets the consent of the girl. This is exactly where it's going wrong.
On the contrary, if despite showing such things, if it is shown as wrong and 'good' guys are
punished for their acts, then probably it's not a bad thing, because then you are educating the
society about the ills and serving the purpose of a movie (apart from entertainment).
