5. When gas testing is called for, valves shall be subject to shell / body and seat gas pressure tests at
maximum design pressure for 15 minutes in accordance to API 598.
Testing shall be performed on one valve to qualify other sizes and ratings as per fire test standard BS EN 10045
Testing shall be performed with nitrogen/1% helium mix with external leakage measured with a mass spectrometer.
56 Acceptance criteria shall be: Body / shell: No leakage, Seats: 10 scc / cm. dia. / min
57 6. Where applicable, valves shall have butt weld ends non-destructively tested in accordance with BS 5998, Fig. 1.

7. Weld repairs of castings shall be in accordance with welding procedures and qualification test records complying with ASME IX
66 and reviewed by the Purchaser prior to use, NDE and acceptance levels as per Table 2.
67 8. Cracks, hot tears, planar defects and all defects exceeding the severity levels in Table 2 shall be unacceptable.
68 IDENTIFICATION
9. Valves shall be marked as per MSS SP-25 using bar (gauge) and °C units for pressure and temperature and inches
69 for nominal diameter.
10. All valves shall be provided with a stainless steel tag plate securely attached to the valve showing the Tag No. referenced
70 in the purchase order with lettering 12 mm high.
11. In addition each valve shall be provided with non-corrodible metal tag 50mm x 20mm with the Purchase Order Number,
Item Number, Inspection Release Certificate Number and Heat Number stamped in the metal tag
71 attached securely with corrosion resistent wire.
12. In addition, each valve shall be permanently marked with the Inspection Release Certificate Number and Heat Number by:
i) Light stamping (low stress or dot stamps) on non-impact tested carbon steel
ii) Vibroetching on alloy or stainless steel or titanium
72 iii) Etching on impact tested carbon steel or (i) above prior to final heat treatment

98 13. Supplier shall submit with bid details of hand wheel and gearbox operators for all valve sizes.
99 14. Valves 8" and larger shall be gear operated.
15. Gear operator shall be totally enclosed waterproof type, packed with suitable lubricant.

Thay shall be fitted with one or more easily accessible grease nipples.
16. To prevent incorrect operation, the mounting of gear operators shall be such that a correct flow passage is assured,

and the valve can be fully opened or closed.
102 17. Maximum force to operate valves shall be 350 N.
18. In addition to the above the valves shall be fitted with the gear boxes when the following brake torques are exceeded at maximum
103 differential pressure across the valve seat:
Hand wheel maximum torque 150 Nm with Wheel maximum diameter 750 mm.
104 19. Maximum breake out and close torque necessary to operate any valve at max. differential pressure shall not exceed 205 Nm.
105 20. Break torque for each valve size shall be verified during test.
106 21. All the valves shall be tight shut off valves and be designed for 100% vacuum.
