FOCUS OF LESSON: Students will learn the skill cues of a serving and returning a serve
in pickleball.
STUDENT PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES (SPO):
By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
(P) Demonstrate competency in the skill of serving by striking the pickleball in the
diagonal box 10 out of 15 times. (National # S2.H1.L2; MACF # 2.17; Task/Activity #
Activities 2)
(C) Understand the bounce rule when serving and returning a serve. (National #
S1.H3.L1; MACF # 2.12; Task/Activity # Informing & Closure)
(A) Apply safe practices, rules, procedures, and sportsmanship etiquette during
gameplay. (National # S4.H2.L1; MACF # 2.12; Task/Activity # Activity 3)
TEACHER PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES - During the lesson the teacher will:
1. During the lesson, the teacher will weight for silence before starting to give
instructions, instead of talking over the students.
2. The teacher will give every student one piece for feedback.
SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS - What are the safety concerns? What is unique about the
students in this class?
● The teacher must establish that the paddles are NOT meant to be used inappropriately.
● If students seem to be fooling around with their partner, the teacher will re pick partners
to keep students more on task.
