Maize
A 100kg bag of maize continued its rise in two markets this week. In Accra, it gained 10 percent to close the week at GHS 170.00 from a previous
price of GHS 155.00. Tamale also gained 15 percent to close the week at GHS 156.00.
On the retail market a kilo of the commodity was sold for GHS 1.80 representing an increase of 6 percent. Tamale also gained 14 percent to close the week
at GHS 1.60 from a previous price of GHS 1.40.

Tomato (Fresh)
A crate of tomato gained 2 percentage points at Techiman to close the week at GHS 286.00 from a previous price of GHS 280.00. Accra also gained 5 percent
to close the week at GHS 550.00 from a previous price of GHS 525.00. Takoradi lost to close the week at GHS 416.00 from GHS 420.00 representing a marginal
loss of 1 percentage point. Dambai also lost 5 percent to close the week at GHS 180.00 from a previous value of GHS 190.00.
On the retail market a kilo of the tomato was sold for GHS 4.50 from a previous price of GHS 4.20 representing an increase of 7 percent. Accra and Techiman
gained 13 and 14 percentage points to close the week at GHS 8.94 and GHS 5.00 respectively. Dambai and Takoradi however lost 4 percent to close the week at
GHS 4.30 and GHS 8.33 respectively. Esoko market watchers have attributed the performance to shortage of the local type of tomatoes on the market this is
because the harvest of the commodity has not been good this season.
