Describe the lesson’s activities and content to provide a clear overview of the lesson.

Description and Background Students will watch a flocabulary video through one time and then again with pauses for
Information reiteration. I will use “candles dance in the wind” and asked students what is going on, and
ask could that really happen? I will break down “The wind whispered to the flowers” and
identify the personifying word(s) and how this is a human action. I will ask for the definition
of personification. I will ask for three examples of personification and then have another
students identify the personifying word in the example.Students will write 10 sentences
correctly using personification with the personifying word underlined. Students will
rewatch video and the personification common objects in the classroom.Assessment is
worksheet (graded).

What will students be able to do at the conclusion of this lesson? Make sure that your

The learner will be able to identify personifying words in a sentence/phrase with 100%
accuracy. The students will be able to personify a common everyday item with 80%
accuracy.

Students will be able to define personification and identify personifying words with 80%
accuracy

Describe the strengths of your instructional techniques, strategies and classroom management.
Describe the strengths of student engagement.
My instructional strategies were good as there was a lot of discourse and ideas bouncing
Strengths around in the class. Due to the video and the repeated return to it classroom management was
absolutely no problem. Student engagement was great because they got to come up with examples and
made the content relevant to “Orangeburgeans”
Describe the weaknesses of your instructional techniques, strategies and classroom management.
Describe the weaknesses of student engagement.
One weakness was that some students didn’t seem to fully grasp the concept early on and some of the
Weaknesses discourse was lost to them and would slightly inhibit their engagement.

What would you change when teaching this lesson again?


Suggestions for I would definitely do a deeper check for understanding earlier in the lesson
