Introduction/Background of Research

Research Hypothesis

The research hypothesis is usually used in quantitative research to state the

relationship and differences between variables. If your research is qualitative, you do

not need to prepare a hypothesis. A hypothesis represents the researcher’s

predictions regarding the relationship or difference which possibly exist between

variables. It is also a prediction of what is expected to happen by the research regarding

the issue or problem which is being studied. A research hypothesis predicts the nature

and strength of a relationship or differences in inferential statics before the data is

collected (Chua Yan Piaw, 2012). The hypothesis is a proposed statement in relation to

the research you are going to conduct. A basic rule of writing a hypothesis is that it

carries are yes/no answer. For example: Drinking sugary drinks daily leads to obesity. /

Malaysian films are not successful because of the actors. / Theatre performances are
