Introduction
Renewable sources of energy are the most useful ways to keep the planet clean
and harness the natural elements that the world provides for us to use. These
renewable sources are Solar (energy from the sun), Wind, Geothermal (the planets
heat), Hydro (water) and Biomass (use of biodegradable substances. Nevertheless,
of all these different sources solar energy is by far the most used in the world
today because of the fact that it is always there to collect every day.
This energy source is collected through specially made panels and sent to a
battery to store the power collected to be the panels. Then the power is sent out
of these batteries to houses, stores, business places etc. so that these places may
have current to power them. Moreover, this process happens day after day to
keep power in home across the world.

Literary review
This project is about how solar energy can be used to power different thing in the
world. We are using it to create a solar powered charger. The process that the
sunlight goes through to create power to charge our devices is that firstly the sun
will shine it rays onto a specially made panel that tis used to collect the light to
turn it into energy to be used. Next, the energy collected would be too much to
send to the distribution board so a regulator ids place in front of it to reduce the
voltage of the current.
After the current is reduced, it is sent to a distribution board to charge the
batteries that are connected to store the energy for later use. When the energy is
ready to use there are USB ports connected to the board to attach charger cord to
charge the devices that we use every day.

Development
The development of this project has had its pros, its cons because most of the
items used to complete this project had to be ordered, one of the parts took very
long to arrive, and it was the most important part of the entire project. This solar
powered battery charger took a lot of research to make because if not done
correctly it will cause in some wrong readings but through it all we managed to
pull through and complete the project.

Data/ Findings/Testing/Result
There were plenty of test done to complete the project. On the first test from the
sun, the panel gave a correct reading of 12V and 3W. After the panel gave the
correct reading an regulator was attached to the panel to connect the head of a
USB charger to send the power collected to the distribution board to charge the
batteries .When the batteries where tested there was a problem because they
were not giving a correct reading they were given us 3V and 3A when we were
looking for 5V. Then the batteries were connected to the main distribution board
that has on the USB ports and charging port and a voltage of 5V was read being
distributed to charge a phone but it still did not charge our devices. However, tit
was still not giving the correct readings so a second project was built to test if
something was wrong with the first project and when the second was made it
worked with no complications but we still have not found the problem with the
first project.

Conclusion
Solar energy is one of the most useful and reliable sources of energy. It can be
collected from anywhere on the surface of the earth as long as the sun is shining
in all its glory. Solar energy is more efficient than the other entire renewable
energy source and can be used to power many different things and it is the
easiest type of energy to collect a use. It also the cheapest of all the renewable
energies. The use of this energy is free, does not create pollution, and if used
wisely can help us become less dependent on other more costly and damaging
forms of power.
