The meeting was called to order.

1) pntroduction of the Council Members.

2) Guest speaker ± Theresa Hernandez, Women¶s Coalition Chair

K The Women¶s Coalition was established 15 years ago.


i) pt is funded by the Provost.
ii) pt is the umbrella organization to seven DU women¶s group (originally six): Women¶s
Leadership Council, Connecting Staff Women (CSW), Staff Women¶s Association and
Network (SWAN), Graduate Women¶s Council, Undergraduate Women¶s Council, Faculty
Women¶s Association, Association of Sisters in Higher Education (which is the latest
addition).
(1) Purpose of all groups is to connect women on campus, esp. women in leadership
positions, as well as discussing topics that concern women in a work environment.
iii) pt holds two town hall meetings each year, one in the Fall and one in the Spring.
(1) pt is an open forum.
(2) Topic this Fall will be child care.
(3) Linda Kosten will give a status report on women on campus.
iv) Co-sponsors the Women¶s Conference as well as the Conference on Multicultural
Excellence.
v) Sponsored the Black Male Conference.

K The Women¶s Leadership Council meets once a month, meeting times can be found on the DU
calendar.
i) Participation in this group is by invitation only, reserved for most senior administrators such
as Deans, VCs, etc.
K SWAN meets every first Thursday of the month
i) Connects all staff women.
ii) Focuses on laws, finances, childcare, staff appreciation, etc.
iii) Lost almost all members during the budget alignment phase.
iv) ps working on drafting a clear mission statement as well as membership recruiting.

K CSW meets every second Thursday of the month.


i) Connects women in middle management.
ii) pnvolved in mentoring, networking, career enhancement, etc.
iii) Holds many meet & greet session on campus.
iv) Very active and largest group.

3) May minutes were approved.

4) Announcement:
K Treasurer¶s report: $6,022.61.
K The Chancellor will meet with the SAC July 14th; all questions to be submitted to Christa by
Friday, July 9th.
K Athletics currently has several coaching and trainer positions open. Details can be found on the
DU job site.

5) New Business
K Staff picnic is July 15; SAC member expected to help between 10:30 ± 1:30 pm
K SAC awards: nomination sheet will be distributed either via web or flyers; members of the SAC
can also be nominated.
K SAC shirts: not received yet. Should be here next week. Christa to distribute via inner-office
mail.
K SAC representative on the sustainability council: Christa to research who is currently our
representative on that council and inform Saskia who is currently voluntarily sitting in on their
meetings.

6) Old business.
K Prepaid legal option: SAC members have received overall positive feedback from their
respective departments on offering this option to the staff.
i) All in support to send a recommendation to HR to move forward in offering such plan.
ii) Christa to combine this recommendation with the subpoenaed witness amendment the SAC
voted on at the April 2010 meeting.
iii) NOTE: DU employees currently have access to free will writing through Hartford Life.
