Standard #9 Reflection and Continuous Growth

The teacher is a reflective practitioner who uses evidence to continually evaluate his/her
practice, particularly the effects of his/her choices and actions on others (students,
families, and other professionals in the learning community), and adapts practice to meet
the needs of each learner.

Standard in my own words

Constantly reflecting on one’s teaching methods, lesson planning, and support for each
learner to grow as an educator.

Description of Artifact
During student teaching, our supervisor used iObservation during at least one of our
observations. iObservation gave us important feedback on our teaching strategies and
how we can better improve our teaching.

Indicators
9 (c) Independently, and in collaboration with colleagues, the teacher uses a variety of
data to evaluate the outcomes of teaching and learning and to adapt planning and
practice.

Rationale
I met this standard 9 (c) because I collaborated with my supervisor and mentor to gain
important input about my teaching practices and how I can improve upon them in the
future. Being able to have input from colleagues on how to improve your teaching is
important for continuing growth as a educator.
