Standard #4 Content Knowledge

The teacher understands the central concepts, tools of inquiry, and structures of the
discipline he or she teaches and creates learning experiences that make these aspects of
the discipline accessible and meaningful for learners.

Understanding the content and creating meaningful learning experiences for students.

Description of Artifact
During my executive branch unit I created a vocabulary quiz that would help students
learn the proper language to use when discussing the executive branch and the President
of the United States.

Indicators
4 (h) Creates opportunities for students to learn, practice, and master academic language
in their content.

Rationale
I met this standard 4 (h) because I was able to help student learn, practice and master
academic language that had to do specifically with the executive branch. I was able to
help teach students that had little to no knowledge about the executive branch and help
them gain more vocabulary on the subject.
