On Saturday, April 28, the Susquehanna University Varsity Women’s Lacrosse team
traveled to Drew University to play against the Rangers at 1:30PM. Both collegiate lacrosse
teams are in the Landmark Conference of Division III athletics. Susquehanna is coached by Head
Coach Randall Swope and Assistant Coach Elizabeth Mulvey. The conference game resulted in a
loss for the Susquehanna Riverhawks but one senior attacker won by scoring her 100th career
point during the game, and that was a win for the whole team.
Maplewood, New Jersey. Before attending Susquehanna University Rabiecki attended Mount
Saint Mary Academy in Watchung, New Jersey where she was also a member of the Varsity
Women’s Lacrosse team. Her brother, Greg Rabiecki was also a member of the Varsity Men’s
Lacrosse team at Susquehanna, and he sparked her interest in attending the University. Rabiecki
gave some insight on her experience attending college with her older brother,“it was great having
my brother, Greg at Susquehanna for my first two years. He was able to show me the ropes of
college and introduce me to some great people. Having him here also made the transition from
From her first year at Susquehanna, Rabiecki made an important impact on the Women’s
Lacrosse program scoring five goals and having one assist equaling six points to jump start her
career. In collegiate lacrosse, a goal in the cage and an assist, a feed to a person before they score
a goal both equal one point. For her second year in the program, Rabiecki came out strong with
32 goals and one assist, giving her 33 total points for the season and 39 points entering her junior
year. In her third year of playing women’s lacrosse for Susquehanna, Rabiecki had 27 goals and
10 assists leaving her with 76 points entering her last year of collegiate eligibility. Thus meaning
that she had only 24 points left to reach the monumental goal of scoring 100 career points. “For
my senior year, not only did I want to be successful on the field in season, but to also reach my
goal of scoring 100 career points, and I was determined to achieve it.”
For the 2014-2017 seasons that Caroline Rabiecki was a part of, Coach Laura Moan had
been the lacrosse Coach. Elizabeth Mulvey also joined the coaching staff in the fall of 2017
along with Randall Swope as assistant coaches. However, right before the spring season began,
the program went through a coaching change and Coach Randall became the interim head coach.
Upon playing Drew University, the team had a record of 4-8 and was 2-5 in conference. In order
to achieve 100 points, the senior attacker had to score either two goals, a goal and an assist or
have two assists. “Going into the Drew game I knew that I wanted to give it my all. Being that it
could be my last collegiate game ever I knew that wanted to leave everything that I had on the
field. Although we lost I could not have been more proud of my time, we truly had each others
back start to finish and there is not a greater team out there” Rabiecki said. In her senior season,
Rabiecki had 24 points and left her program legacy at 100 career points, which was an extreme
honor to achieve. When thinking about achieving her goal, Rabiecki said that, “getting to one
hundred points was a long road but it had been a goal of mine since I first started at Susquehanna
University. It was so awesome to see all of my hard work end in such success.”
Despite achieving a personal goal for one of the senior players, the Riverhawks lost the
game by five goals, 13-7, finishing the season 4-9. The Susquehanna Varsity Women’s Lacrosse
team will begin their 2018-2019 season in the fall 2018 semester with the National Collegiate
Association of Athletics regulated practices which gives the team 16 official practices. The team
is looking forward to starting the new season, rising senior Kaitlin Homberg said,“I am excited
to begin my last year playing lacrosse at SU with a great group of girls who push me to be the
best version of myself on and off the field. I believe that with hard work and determination we
can achieve great things next season and I am looking forward to the spring.”
