Trying to do her best to save her son, Erma made a trip to

Manila for blood transfusions. She also begged for passes from
the public transportation. Then, she walked to Malacanang, the
presidential palace and pleaded for a red card that allowed free
laboratory tests at government hospitals. Moreover, she
knocked on doors and stood in hallways all across Manila. The
newspaper also helped by publishing Caesar’s picture. A
television celebrity visited him, brought him gifts and gave Erma
some money. A secretary in a government department helped
Erma to find a job. Erma also wrote to the president of the United
States. A children’s hospital offered free treatment, air
transportation and accommodation. Erma’s celebrity friend
helped by arranging free airplane tickets for them.
