Key Player Messages

● JT - Bounce, Spin, Hold Up or Clip the ball
● JE - Pivot and look to play side to side
● DP & HF - Slow down the ball and give yourself
space, one can dribble into midfield to give us an
overload
● HD - Play short and play quickly, always be an option
Playing Style
● In Possession | Play through Def > Mid > Fwd, Be patient in build up and
draw opposition into our half or one side of the field before playing forward or
switching the play.
● Out Possession | Press high up the field, go compact and deny space in the
middle
● Losing The Ball | Can we press the ball (BLAST) and win in 6 seconds? If
not, go compact and deny space
● Winning The Ball | If overloaded can we counter within 5 passes or if
underloaded can we play into space and slow down. (Counter or stabilize)
● Set Pieces | Take advantage of attacking corners through routines #1 & 2
Game Plan
● OFC are likely to play a mixed style of play (direct and possessional)
without any clear patterns. Unsure on formation but likely to be a 4-3-3.
● Share the ball | Our focus on this game will be on controlling the ball and we
should aim for around 65% possession.
● Let the ball work | By using a controlled build up in possession of the ball we
will force OFC to press into our half, leaving space in behind to play forward
to our midfield, fwd and wingers. Make sure we create the diamonds required
to play out and we are using the right height, width and depth (diagram next
page).
● NGU & Blast Pressing | We have not yet work on blast pressing but ensure
that we are aggressively pressing the ball whenever we lose it higher up the
field. SIX SECONDS! Win it back.
Build Up Shape
● LW, FW, RW start high up in OFC’s
half as no offside. Harry can use
these boys to play long to ⅕ build
ups. If ball is played out to CBs. All
3 drop back on-side.
● Create Diamonds as shown!
● Can always go back to keeper if
under pressure (Play out to other
side).
