Taj Mahal

The Taj Mahal is a mausoleum built between 1632 and 1653 on the south bank of
the Yamuna river in the Indian city of Agra. It was built by the Mughal
emperor, Shah Jahan in the memory of his favorite wife, Arjumand Banu Begum,
better known as Mumtaz Mahal.
The surroundings of the Taj Mahal have been restored to the original designs. The
main vista is accentuated by a red sandstone channel set between rows of cypress
trees. The main entrance is from the west, but there are two other entrances: from
the east and from the west. The main gateway is a large three-story sandstone
structure with an octagonal central chamber with smaller rooms on each side. The
walls are inscribed with verses from the Quran.
The Taj Mahal was named on 7 July 2007 as part of the new seven wonders of the
world. Countless tourists have visited the place
Nowadays the Taj Mahal is one of the most important tourist attractions of India.
Unfortunately, I have never been there but I hope to visit it in future. I think what I
like most about it is the design because it has shape with a baroque temple.
