Standard #9 Reflection and Continuous Growth

The teacher is a reflective practitioner who uses evidence to continually evaluate his/her
practice, particularly the effects of his/her choices and actions on others (students,
families, and other professionals in the learning community), and adapts practice to meet
the needs of each learner.

Standard in my own words

Constantly reflecting on one’s teaching methods, lesson planning, and support for each
learner to grow as an educator.

Description of Artifact
During student teaching, I was able to go to a professional development conference with
my mentor. We attended three classes to help us learn how to teach real world social
studies and how to analyze things very specifically.

Indicators
9 (h) Understands how to use learner data to analyze practice and differentiate
instruction accordingly.

Rationale
I met this standard 9 (h) because I was able to utilize my students reflections of my
teaching to change my instructional strategies to best meet their learning needs. Being
able to gain student feedback is so important for teacher reflection. We teach for our
students and being able to see what they think is a great way to reflect.
