CHAPTER 15: Direct Current Circuit Date: ................

NAME: ....................................................................................

1. Refer to circuit shown below. Batteries S1, S2 and S3 have emf of 3.0 V, 6.0 V and 9.0 V and internal
resistance 0.5 Ω, 1.0 Ω and 0.5 Ω respectively. The resistors have resistance R1 = 2.0 Ω, R2 = 3.0 Ω,
R3 = 4.0 Ω and R4 = 1.0 Ω. Determine the p.d across BD.

2. Refer to the figure below. Determine the total resistance across XY.

3. Refer diagram below. Determine the total resistance across PQ.

4. Refer to figure below. Neglect the internal resistance of the battery. Determine the current that flows
through each resistor.

5. A battery has emf of 6.0 V and internal resistance of 1.0 Ω. A resistor is connected to the battery and the
current flowing in the closed circuit is 2.0 A. Determine the resistance of the resistor.

battery. Determine the voltage across the resistor.

8. When a wire of resistance 3.0 Ω is connected across the two terminals of a battery, the voltage
across the battery is of value 9.0 V. When a second wire of resistance 6.0 Ω is connected across the
battery, the voltage becomes 8.0 V. Determine
