Historical downtown Medellín

Ferrocarril de Antioquia

It was a railroad (rél-roud) network that used to tránsport cargo and passengers in Antioquia. Its
construction (constrácchion) is a model of the French Renaissance (rénacens) era (é-ra). It began
(biguen) in 1874 and finished in 1929. The Ferrocarril connected the department of Antioquia with
the Magdalena river and the departments of Caldas and Valle del Cauca.

There we can see the Ferrocarril de Antioquia clock. In it there is written (ruiten) the following:
The name “Ferrocarril de Antioquia”, the precious stones that it has: “seventeen rubies”, the
movement (múv-ment) system with the word “incablock” and the country where it was made.
This was a pocket watch, that the men at that time used to carry.

This was the area where they used to sell the tickets to passengers. There, there were the ticket
windows and over there there was the waiting room where people used to sit to wait for the train
