Yasir Feb
AUSTRALIA
Date/Ra: 12th February/peepuere,
2018.
Child/Tama: Yasir.
Teacher/Kaiako: Naema.
During my relieving in An-Nur I noticed Yasir loves playing with cars and trucks and mostly
races them around. To know more about him I looked at his profile. I found out his last story
was about his Belonging/ Mana Whenua and Contribution/Mana Tangata and how he has
been learning alongside other children and caring about his environment and repairing the
story books along with teacher and other children.
My observation is almost similar as it is evidence how he has been enjoying the preschool’s
stimulating environments and actively participating alongside other children/ Tuakana Teina
to extend his learning about the world around him.
I observed his developing thinking and reasoning, extending his language to express his
feeling and able to communicate. As mentioned in Te Whariki children develop the
vocabulary and techniques to investigate and communicate/ Mana reo ideas about their
world. As I observed, Yasir join us at play-dough table to express his feelings about his family
and how he wants to visit them using ideas and wide range of materials /he koorero aa -
waha.
Staff will continue setting the environments and equipment in such a way to engage Yasir in
collaborative learning and communicating. We will further support him to develop his
interest in finding more about vehicles and means of transport.
We will be ensure reciprocal relationship with Yasir by asking him open ended questions and
encourage him to talk during “Mat time” and ‘free play’. This will foster his language,
thinking, reasoning and problem solving skills.
