Virginia Tech has unveiled a new crowdfunding platform available to the university named Jump. The pro-
gram which is modeled after Virginia Tech’s motto “Ut Prosim” or “That I May Serve” aims to bring the
campus community together through mutually beneficial projects.

Jump allows ideas to foster and grow with donations from those in the community who share the same pas-
sions. Regardless of donation size, an individual is able to contribute what they can and still make an impact.
Jump In
The crowdfunding platform lets students, faculty and staff reach out and ask for help in completing a success-
ful project. With over 70,000 local alumni and the university’s support at their disposal, Jump seeks to ulti-
mately promote a culture of “Hokies helping Hokies.”

Currently Jump has raised over $150,000 for 29 Virginia Tech affiliated projects. Although Jump is a fairly and keep up with all things Jump

new program to the university, it has hit the ground running since its launch in April of 2017.
Jump hosts a variety of different projects that caters to different types of people, projects
and ideas. In order for a project to be considered, it must fall within at least one of six cate-
gories including scholarship, student groups, athletics, travel, faculty research or participa-
tion drives (refer to infographic).

Projects launched on the Jump website are live for a period of 30 days and it is during this
time that donors are able to give to the organization’s cause. However, the Jump project
does not end after this giving period. Projects on Jump are updated throughout the organi-
zation’s development until the conclusion of the project. After the crowdfunding project has
finished, it is archived on the Jump website and available for others to view it’s progress
from launch day until it’s wrap.
