OptoScreener provides an easy and inexpen-
sive upgrade of X-ray inspection systems to
meet EU Liquid Explosives Detection (LEDS)
Standard 2 Type C requirements which will
come into force on 31 January 2014.
OptoScreener has been certified by the Eu-
ropean Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) on
HI-SCAN 6040i and HI-SCAN 6046si systems
and is suitable for both newly ordered sys-
tems and systems already in operation.
The OptoScreener enables reliable and
consistent automated screening of cabin
baggage, in real-time, with minimal effect on
airport operations.
This enhancement does not require any
costly alterations to checkpoint design and
can be installed and put into operation within
a few hours.
For the convenience of operators the Opto-
Screener automatically marks suspect liquid
containers on a touchscreen monitor.
OptoScreener comprises electronics
installed on the X-ray inspection unit, a high-
performance computer for the automatic
Liquid Explosive Detection algorithms and
a monitor with touchscreen for a comfort-
able operation via an advanced human-
machine interface. The operation of the
X-ray inspection unit via the known HI-SCAN
user interface on the main monitor remains
unchanged.
OptoScreener has been designed to keep
pace with our customers’ changing require-
ments and provides the basic hardware
for checkpoint extensions such as remote
operator workststations and checkpoint
management solutions for the collection and
analysis of statistical data.
