Lesson Objective:

*Students will develop the ability to make rhyming words with the spelling pattern “at.”
*Students will identify the rhyming pattern in “at” words.
Lesson Plan Structure:
*Photocopy the game pieces on cardstock or construction paper and laminate.
*Put the materials into an envelope and label the front of it.
*Supply students with a lined sheet of paper or the Word List from Fountas & Pinnell.
*Students are to manipulate the pieces to create “at” rhyming words.
*When students make a word, they are to write it on their list.
Conslusion:
*Have students bring their work to the carpet or group to share with their peers during a wrap
-around.
*Ask students what they notice that is the same on all of their words and how they rhyme.
Differentiation/Modification:
*Only provide some students with a few options to modify how many words they can make.
